A Pirate Cabin Built Around a Broken Mast

Cliffside Broken Mast Cabin is a 1,044-piece pirate building set designed for adult builders, maritime collectors, and fans of detailed coastal hideouts. The model combines a weathered cabin, layered rocky cliffs, a broken ship mast, hidden treasure storage, a waterside dock, a removable bridge, and a high lookout above the sea.

The tall structure creates a complete pirate living space across three levels, while the dock, small boat access, telescope, printed details, and suspended cliffside elements give the finished model strong vertical display presence.

A Home Above the Twilight Sea

Long after the ship that carried it was destroyed, part of its mast remained trapped among the rocks of the coast. Rather than abandon the wreckage, a sailor rebuilt the surrounding cliff into a cabin overlooking the Twilight Sea.

The cabin is still inhabited. Supplies are stored near the water, a small boat remains tied beside the dock, and the upper lookout is used to watch approaching ships.

Inside the bedroom, a small fragment of an old map hangs on the wall like an ordinary decoration. Most visitors pass it without noticing, unaware that it may once have belonged to a much larger chart.

Three-Level Cliffside Structure

Each level serves a different role within the coastal hideout.

First Floor — Hidden Treasure Room: Open the wooden door built into the cliff to access a concealed storage chamber containing supplies and treasure.

Second Floor — Living Quarters: The bedroom provides a private space above the rocks and includes the small map fragment displayed on the wall.

Third Floor — Observation Deck: A rotating telescope allows the cabin’s resident to watch the sea, nearby islands, and ships entering the bay.

Broken-Mast Architecture

The cabin is built around the remains of a damaged ship mast, connecting the structure visually to an earlier voyage and shipwreck.

The mast, rigging, sails, wooden platforms, and weathered architecture make the building feel as though it has been assembled from salvaged maritime materials.

Waterside Dock and Small-Boat Access

A dock at the base of the cliff provides access to the cabin from the sea. A small boat can be positioned beside the entrance as part of the complete coastal scene.

The dock allows the building to function as both a remote home and a hidden stopping point for sailors travelling along the coast.

Removable Cliff Bridge

The bridge connecting the cliffside sections can be removed, allowing the layout to be adjusted and making the different areas easier to access.

This feature also creates a defensive advantage for the resident, who can separate the cabin from the outer platform when unwanted visitors approach.

12 Printed Elements

The set includes 12 printed elements with no stickers required. These components add maritime markings, signs, decorative details, and environmental storytelling throughout the model.

Expand the Pirate Coast

Cliffside Broken Mast Cabin can be displayed independently or combined with Pirate's Bay Market and other IAMBRICK Gridera modular scenes.

Together, the sets create a larger coastal world containing markets, taverns, hideouts, docks, fortresses, and treasure-hunting routes. The Gridera series is designed so each building can stand alone or become part of a larger medieval and pirate display.

Great set with just a couple pain points

I am very happy with this set. The build is great fun and offers many opportunities for intermediate builders to learn more advanced building techniques in an accessible way.

It's not perfect, however - there are a couple steps that are outright difficult and some of the subject matter may not be appropriate for everyone. Being in a pirate theme, it's not surprising that there are bottles marked Rum and others that suggest wine, but some families may not approve. More surprising, though, is that the page of narrative at the beginning and end of the instructions is rather grim - the cabin's lone resident (no figure included) lives here by himself after losing everyone and everything he loved in his blind pursuit of treasure. It's a stark contrast from the usual glories of swashbuckling adventure.

Although it's sold here under the Brixelion brand, the set is produced by iambrick. The pieces are LEGO-compatible size and supplied by GoBricks, so they are premium quality. The build is broken up into four phases and the bags are clearly marked. The first two phases are smooth sailing, but the third has some details that are easily knocked off. Also, the entire cabin and the large plate beneath it are built before being attached atop the rock structure. Aligning that connection and seating everything properly is quite challenging.

Portions of the fourth phase went more smoothly than expected and I was especially pleased that the flexible tubes in this set performed well. Positioning the technic pieces on bars for the bridge's end supports, however, could derail many builders. It isn't easily done since they are quite tight, and I resorted to a specialized brick separator tool from a Woma set that features a dedicated slot just for positioning pieces on bars. This set doesn't include such a tool, and if you don't have one on hand either, the best suggestion I can give is the push the bars through the pins a few times before putting the pins into the technic pieces. Alternatively, the bridge could just be left off. It's there to connect up with the next set in the series, so it's not strictly necessary.

I love some of the design choices in this set. First of all, there are no stickers - all of the decorated pieces are prints. I love the addtion of a brickbuilt sail to the standard rowboat. The rockwork does a little bit of everything. It may not be the most visually cohesive that I've seen, but it is fun, interesting, and instructive to build. The interiors aren't overdone and there's a good amount of space for figures. I think the interiors could benefit from adding a couple lights, however. When I'm not actively shining a light in there, it's pretty dark.

The instruction book is generally very good. Early on, it does a good job of calling out the difference between different 1x1 SNOT plates, but its callouts become confusing on pages where two types are used and a single callout has been applied to both steps on the page. Another quirk of the instructions is that the pieces placed in earlier steps are faded. I've experienced instructions that gray out all of them, and I like this fading method better, but it can be momentarily confusing in areas that use pieces in both light and dark gray.

Overall, I am very pleased with this set and I'm looking forward to building more from this brand. I would recommend this set as not only a good build, but also as a good value at its current price of just under $50. Since figures are not included, it's probably a good idea to budget a little extra to add those from another source, especially if you are gifting.

Quality bricks and a fun build

My kiddo has recently gotten into small brick building sets and we've been slowly building in difficulty. This is going to be a big step up for their little fingers to get into. The bricks are compatible with the other big brand, but definitely look different. This isn't bad, but may help keep things separated.
A comparable set from the block brand will set you back nearly double the cost. This is a great value if you can look beyond brand name.

Colorful, detailed and fun!

This is a fantastic set! Better than the "name brand" sets in my opinion. Colorful and exciting to assemble, it was challenging and fun. Made for kids maybe but I enjoyed it as an adult and my grown son loed it so much I ordered him one for Christmas.
Great detailing . It made for a fun snow day afternoon to assemble . The pieces are all well made and snap together perfectly. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I love this brand!

Fun and detailed build with great display value

This set was a really enjoyable project. The cliffside cabin design is unique and has a cool nautical vibe, with fun details like the treasure room, map fragment, and rotating telescope. The boat dock and drawbridge add extra playability, which makes it more interactive than just a display piece.

The pieces snap together well and the printed blocks are a nice touch since you don’t have to mess with stickers. The instructions are clear, so it’s relaxing to build even if you’re not super experienced.

The only small downside is that it takes a bit of patience with over 1000 pieces, so it’s not a quick build. But once finished, it looks fantastic on display and feels worth the effort. Overall, a creative and fun kit that makes a great gift for teens or hobbyists.

Great Christmas Gift to Keep an 11-Year-Old Busy

This pirate house building set made a great Christmas present for our 11-year-old. It has enough pieces and detail to keep them busy and engaged for a good amount of time. The pirate wharf theme is fun, and the building steps are clear and easy to follow.
The pieces fit together well, and the finished build looks nice when it’s done. It’s a good balance of challenging without being frustrating, which makes it a solid option for kids who enjoy building sets.
A fun, hands-on gift that keeps kids occupied and entertained.

Awesome sets IamBrick

iambrick uses GoBricks and VERY high quality and super nice to build with, every set I have purchased so far has had great details, no stickers, and great value. Where they might lack is design, as there are many places that you only have a single stud holding things together. But the Value for what you get is more then enough to make up for that!
